I thought this was an interesting game to play. Since I’ve no group; suffice it to say, I’ll be playing this by myself.
My answers and reasonings:
- flashlight - aside from offering much needed light during the night, it can be for protection as well
- jackknife - cut things especially those cactuses
- 1 quart of water per person - obviously
- sectional air map of the area - gotta get the hell outta here
- magnetic compass - right direction
- bottle of salt tablets (1000 tablets) - for endurance
- plastic raincoat (size large) - in case it rains during the night
- 1 top coat per person - for those freezing desert nights
- 2 quarts of 180 proof vodka - for disinfectant in case I get a wound
- compress kit with gauze - for obvious reasons
- .45 caliber pistol (loaded) - i need food and protection
- book entitled “edible animals of the desert” - after reading it, set it on fire
- parachute (red and white) - letting anyone above know where i’m at and for shelter
- cosmetic mirror - creating fire and/or letting people know where i’m at by letting the sun reflect on it
- pair of sunglasses per person - well, you know…
I did this for a class and it was pretty interesting.. Play along if you’d like.
You’ve just crash-landed somewhere in the desert southwest United States. You and four other people have survived the crash; the plane has burned and only the airframe remains. Just before crashing, the pilot was able to notify you of your position - you are 70 miles south-southwest from the nearest known habitation, and 65 miles off the flight course. It’s mid-August and the last weather report indicated temperatures would reach 130 degrees F. You all are dressed in light-weight clothing.
Your group was able to salvage 15 items from the plane, as listed below. Your task is to rank these items according to their importance to your survival, with 1 being most important and 15 being least important. All items are in good condition. Assume your group has agreed to stick together (and you will adhere to that agreement).
