I updated this blog months ago, and numerous things have transpired in my life since. The below text will be a brief update of my current employment (the other aspects of my life isn’t exactly “exciting”).
After 3 years and 11 months working for ABN AMRO LaSalle Bank (purchased by Bank of America), I switched industries and am now working at IntraVex - Logistics Information Services.
My weekly tasks:
- Peform daily and weekly audits and reporting of all parcel clients to verify they are receiving their contracted DHL, FedEx and UPS rates
- Work with Carrier representatives to resolve pricing discrepancies
- Conduct analysis of old, current and proposed contracts to ensure client is fulfulling their specified peformance targets
- Load new client contracts and/or custom rates into the database
- Review and test parcel price audit adjustments
- Perform and assist with special projects
So far, I am enjoying my time there while gaining valuable experience in such a dynamic industry. It doesn’t hurt that my co-workers are so diverse and just completely awesome. Since it is still a growing company, there are only a few of us (the others work remotely and/or out of state in California and the other state is not coming to my head at the moment), so you get to really know your co-workers and accountability is high (something that, unfortunately, is not as important in big, established companies). Last week, I started going with some of my co-workers to trivia night located at Merkle’s Bar & Grill every Tuesday night. Unfortunately, last week’s theme was baseball. Next week, the bar will resume its general trivia theme, so it should be more fun. Now, all I need is a raise (boss said by the end of this year), and I’ll be really happy!
